Movie Monday #2-Vampire Academy

Hey! It's nice to be back posting after the weekend, even if that means school. I will from now on try to also post on weekends, even if it's just a review. I have a ton of books lined up to review so that shouldn't be a problem. I do on the other hand, want to apologize in advance for two things. In case you haven't picked up on it already, I am still in high school, and since winter break ended last week I have finals in my future, starting tomorrow actually, until Friday. Which is why, not only will today's post be shorter than I like, I might post less this week. I still will do my best to post WoW, but I probably won't be posting any reviews, and again I apologize in advance for that, but there's really nothing I can do about it.

Now that that's out of the way I present to you today's Movie Monday: Vampire Academy

I regretfully inform you that, the above is indeed the movie poster. (Regretfully because I really don't like it)

Vampire Academy is by Richelle Mead, and is a series by the same name, this is the first book. Here is a short summary:

In the world of Vampire Academy, there are Moroi, the good vampires; Strigoi, the bad vampires; and Dhampirs, the protectors of the Moroi. St. Vladimir's Academy, is a school where Moroi attend to learn about their magic, and Dhampirs attend to train and learn how to protect Moroi.

Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, sworn to protect the last of the Dragomir royal line and best friend Lissa Dragomir. Rose and Lissa had escaped the academy, but are caught and forced back to the danger they tried to leave behind. Left with no choice but to stay, they join in on the school experience they left behind when they escaped, but they better be careful, you never know when a Strigoi might attack.

another summary:

St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger...

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

Now for the actual movie info:

Trailers here and here

The trailers are pretty amazing (especially the second one!) and as much as I would like to say I was a fan of  the books from the start, that would be a lie. I read the books after seeing the trailer when I went to watch City of Bones.

If you want more info and stuff like sound tracks, gifs, and pics go here.

That's all folks! I do ask that you vote on the poll on whether I should do reviews on the Sherlock Holmes series, only 3 people have voted so far, and by looking at the page views here should be a lot more votes, and again it won't hurt my feelings if you say no, so please vote! If you're only then mobile version the go to the bottom of the page, select web version so you can see the poll (and vote!) There's only three more days left!

Rapunzel’s tower is a satellite. She can’t let down her hair—or her guard.

In this third book in the bestselling Lunar Chronicles series, Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together, they’re plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and her army.

Their best hope lies with Cress, who has been trapped on a satellite since childhood with only her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker—unfortunately, she’s just received orders from Levana to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice.

When a daring rescue goes awry, the group is separated. Cress finally has her freedom, but it comes at a high price. Meanwhile, Queen Levana will let nothing stop her marriage to Emperor Kai. Cress, Scarlet, and Cinder may not have signed up to save the world, but they may be the only ones who can.

Summaries for Cinder (book 1) and Scarlet (book 2). I haven't done reviews for either of these-yet, but they may come soon.

The Lunar Chronicles is the dystopian retelling of various fairytales. I read the first book, Cinder a month or two after it come out. This was after get much praise, win the Goodreads 2012 Choice Award and see a friend so engrossed in it she didn't hear me speaking. So, I decided to pick it up.  Cinder was absolutely amazing! I could put all the reasons why, but then it would be a review, so you can find out those reason when I do said review soon. (possibly tomorrow...no promises on anything) Scarlet, the second book came out in early 2013, around February or March. I was instantly hooked (again!). I had the opportunity to read Scarlet only a few days after it came out and instantly wanted the next one. I have been waiting almost a year now and I am just so excited, I CAN NOT WAIT! Marissa Meyer is an amazing author and I will read anything she writes.

That's it for today, check back tomorrow for a possible review, or subscribe by my new follow by email option, which notifies you by email every time I post something new!
